Over and Out

Just like that.
.
After months of planning and anticipation. Months of emotions swirling inside my stomach and thoughts of 2005 and what brought me to this year- all those chances where I could have ended up somewhere else instead of underneath this Chuppah. Looking at my best friend and the man who was raised under a different religion but enough of the same values that we can see eye to eye and dance to the same tune.
.
We stood there, shaded by the hot sun watching our loved ones fanning themselves with tears of joy in their eyes. Or maybe it was the sweat dripping from their foreheads?
.
An amalgamation of the Orthodox to the Catholic. Fusions from Singapore to South Africa and wrapped neatly with a Taoist. Brought together by two people who decided to make their story beautiful.
.
And this is how it was. It came and went so quickly. I am Susi Doring Preston and with the new year, I start yet another chapter in the life of a Ginrod Preston. I'm sad to see my family go, I miss the stress of loading and unloading and planning and dancing and celebration and tears. It was a storm of joy and now the calm seas of the beginnings of marriage await. Which doesn't seem too different from before, except that now we need to buy a couch.
